Ecothrive Art Coalition

September 12th, 2011

Recently ETAC(Ecothrive Art Coalition) was formed.  We are a non-profit organization that is committed to merging the worlds of art and sustainability.  We offer prints of BK’s paintings and use a third of the proceeds to purchase Carbon Offset credits from Terrapass.

We provide you with third party audits and receipts that detail how your involvement in this initiative will help to move America to a sustainable future.  We are also focused on educating the general public on the issues that face us as a planet.  It is a sad fact that mainstream media is more of a propaganda machine for whomever is pushing their agenda so we are going to bring you the facts associated with these issues so that you will be well informed.

We look forward to your continued patronage and we know that together we can make a series of small changes that will snowball into the positive, sustainable future for ourselves and our children.

Osama Bin Laden is dead

May 2nd, 2011

Tonight, I write this as the ink is drying on the pages of history. Osama Bin Laden is dead. The weight of those five words is pushing every competing thought from my  mind, and I cannot seem to sort through the plethora of emotions running through my head.

I am happy for those who find closure and solace in the events of the evening.  I believe a good thing has transpired and a bad man is gone. A man with great influence and a penchant for spreading insidious beliefs that are cancerous for mankind. Im grateful for the renewed hope that we can once again unite as a country and find a common thread to hold us together in these trying times. We needed this in many ways.  I am consumed with the images of navy seals somewhere in afghanistan with cigars in their mouth and booze in their hands, celebrating with their comrades. Straight up, on some base in the mountains outside of Kabul right now there is the dopest party going on, and it makes me smile to think about that. Those boys are heroes…

But there is also an overwhelming feeling of sadness that accompanies the euphoria. With every chant of U-S-A, I wonder how many people really understand what they are cheering about. How quickly we forget and need a reminder! Every newscast is starting the Bin Laden bio with the 1993 bombing. How clever. Why dont they go back to the 80′s and report how we trained, funded, and armed Bin Laden and his followers? He was built by American military intelligence, no wonder he could hide from it for so long.

Without getting too far into it, I don’t believe the 9/11 story. I will never pretend to have all the answers, but I do know all the questions that they dont want asked. Like Lupe Fiasco said, I really think the war on terror is a bunch of bullshit, just a poor excuse for you to use up all your bullets. The last time the country was united under a farce we were force-fed the patriot act and led into a decade of war. In my opinion, the real people behind 9/11 are watching the same news I am right now, chilling on a plush leather couch while the next phase of the plan plays out on 60 inch flat screens. They make the kool aid, and we drink it right up.

The universe is governed by simple laws. One of them being cause and effect. For every action, there is a reaction, and this has only just begun. The spark plugs are firing on the propaganda machine, and the gears are starting to speed up. The late night news is being filled with the “warnings” of retaliation. So the real question is, whats next? Create a problem, then provide the solution. Round 1 was homeland security and all its trinkets. Round 2 is yet to be written.

BK Prologue

April 28th, 2011

My art is an open ended book – I write with paint, documenting the experiences around me with entries on canvas and paper. I’ve been working on the prologue for some time.

The art world is a fickle place. Every peak revitalizes your confidence, while every valley invites doubt. Chasing dreams requires a fit mind, healthy self esteem, and sound support. Otherwise it’s easy to tire and fade out.

I’ve never deviated from my standard; If they won’t let you in the front door, you figure out a way in the side. We exist in an amazing period of history and the world is waking up. The whistleblowers get labeled as rogue individuals acting alone. Thats fine by me. I want to challenge the status quo, open locked doors and redefine what art can be.
